The representation of human nature in art form has been part of human existence for thousands of years. Using any materials available, man has always wanted to sculpt, paint, carve, chisel, mould, build and create. From the cave paintings of Neanderthal man depicting hunting scenes, to the gigantic stone carvings of just about every civilization since, man has had a fascination with the depiction of himself in his world.
It is naturally a fascination to look at human nature represented
in paintings and sculpture of all sizes, but for some
only miniature will do.
In the past 100 years or so, the Collectable Military Miniature
has evolved from crudely moulded lead soldiers, through
various stages of improvement using plastics and metals, to reach
today's standards which, frankly, will be hard to beat. It is no exaggeration that the sculptors of today have raised the
bar considerably, taking the hobby to an art form. This has demanded higher standards from painters as well, with
some of the top painters commanding thousands of pounds for a single
figure!
The Model Soldier wishes to bring a very high standard of modelling and painting within the price range of everyone!
